BARREL RACING UPDATES
We kicked off our 2025 show season with a bang and what a way to start the year! Our Southward Stables crew truly brought their A-game.
The first two shows were filled with so many big moments—first runs of the year, personal bests, and strong finishes. We saw fast, clean runs and some major milestones being hit right out of the gate.
There’s no doubt—we’ve got an exciting season ahead!
Futurity Highlight: Kayla Ward & Holey Hez Sharp
A huge spotlight goes to Kayla Ward and Holey Hez Sharp, who had an outstanding performance in the futurity slot race, placing 3rd overall! It was a highly competitive class, and their hard work and dedication really showed.
This kind of success doesn’t happen overnight—Kayla has been putting in the time, the miles, and the training to get Levi ready for this moment. Placing third in a futurity slot race this early in the season is no small feat, and we’re beyond proud of them both. The future looks very bright for this duo!
Average Award Achievements
Big congrats to Olivia Giesbrecht, Kayla Ward, and Haley Silliker, who each brought home average awards from the weekend. Consistency across multiple runs is tough to nail this early in the season, congrats team!
Pay Window Earners & Personal Bests

BARN UPDATES
Garden Goodness 🍓
This season, Brenna, Rhonda, and Kristen rolled up their sleeves and got planting — and the results are already looking amazing. With over 300 strawberry plants now in the ground and a handful of horse-friendly herbs added to the mix, the garden space is bursting with life!
Big thanks to the Brenna for doing the planning and making this amazing project come to life!
🔧 New Water Lines, Parking, and Manure Pit
We’ve been busy making some practical improvements around the barn, too!
✅ New water lines have been installed to improve pressure and accessibility across the property.
✅ We now have a new parking lot area, giving clients and visitors more room during busy lesson days.
✅ A new manure pit has been built — cleaner, more efficient, and ready for the season ahead!
Thank you to everyone who’s been patient and helpful during the construction work — these upgrades will make a big difference in daily life at SWS!

We are so excited to announce that Rhonda is now the proud owner of Flicka!
After over a year of leasing her, taking lessons, and building a strong, trusting bond, it's finally official — and we couldn’t be happier for her.

🐴 Welcome to the World, Baby Roo!
Meet Roo! This was Rio’s first foal, and she did an incredible job bringing this sweet boy into the world. Roo is by Arbons Frenchman and out of Music N Moons Rio, making him one to watch in the future!
Congrats to the Siliker family for their beautiful colt.
We’re so grateful for the amazing community that makes Southward Stables what it is. From gardens to new foals, and barn improvements to heartwarming milestones — thank you for being part of it all.
